Tim's 2017 Emmys Picks

The 2017 Emmy Awards are here! This year's show is hosted by one of our favorite comedians and late night hosts, Stephen Colbert.

It's become a tradition at On the Mic for me to make my award show picks. This year's Emmys may be the hardest year I've made picks for. So many of my favorite shows, and favorite actors are going head to head. It makes it hard to pick when they're all your favorites. But the picks must be done! So without further adieu, here are my 2017 Emmy Picks!

Drama Series
“This Is Us”
One of the hardest categories to have to pick a winner. "This Is Us" seems to be the frontrunner to me, but don't count out "Stranger Things", or with a twist, "The Handmaiden's Tale".

Comedy Series
“Atlanta” (FX)
A lot of people think "Veep" is the lock here, but I think we will see "Atlanta" take an Emmy home for their first season. Also don't count out "Master Of None". Season 2 was spectacular.

Drama Actress
Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)

Drama Actor
Sterling K. Brown (“This Is Us”)
I think we see Sterling K. Brown go back to back with Emmy wins. Don't count out Bob Odenkirk or Sterling's "This Is Us" co-star, Milo Ventimiglia.

Comedy Actor
Donald Glover (“Atlanta”)
So many great actors, but this is Donald's time!

Comedy Actress
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”)
I would love to see Ellie Kemper finally get her Emmy, but Julia Louis-Dreyfus seems locked in for her sixth Emmy. I would love to see Pamela Aldon take the surprise win with "Better Things".

Limited Series
“Big Little Lies” (HBO)

Limited Series Actor
Robert De Niro (“The Wizard of Lies”)
I could also see Riz Ahmed sneak in and grab his first Emmy for "The Night Of"

Limited Series Actress
Nicole Kidman (“Big Little Lies”)

Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
John Lithgow (“The Crown”)
I love seeing Jonathan Banks nominated every year. One of these years he will take it!

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Thandie Newton (“Westworld”)
Crissy Metz is close on Thandie's heals for her role in "This Is Us". Don't be surpised to see her take the win. I also think Uzo Aduba is making this a really tight race. She was incredible on "Orange Is The New Black" this last season.

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin (“Saturday Night Live”)
Do we really need to explain this pick? Baldwin WAS Saturday Night Live last season.

Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”)
I love every one of these women and the incredible roles they've brought to life. This one is going to Kate though. I sure would love to see Leslie Jones take it home though.

Variety Talk Series
“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”
I would love to see Samatha Bee take this home, but Colbert has been on a role, and topping the ratings! I also wouldn't count out Corden. I want all of these shows to win!

Reality Competition
“The Voice” (NBC)

Television Movie
“The Wizard Of Lies” (HBO)
I would love to see "Sherlock" take this one, but the Bernie Madoff story "The Wizard Of Lies" should take this.

Variety Sketch Series
“Saturday Night Live” (NBC)
SNL was brilliant this year! But who wouldn't love to see "Billy On The Street" take this one home?

Host for a Reality/Reality-Competition Program
W. Kamau Bell (“United Shades Of America With W. Kamau Bell)

Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd (“Big Little Lies”)

Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie
Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies”)

Directing for a Comedy Series
Donald Glover (“Atlanta”)

Directing for a Drama Series
Vince Gilligan (“Better Call Saul”)

Directing for a Nonfiction Program
Ava DuVernay (“13th”)

Writing for a Comedy Series
Aziz Ansari and Lena Waithe (“Master of None”)

Writing for a Drama Series
The Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”)

Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Drama
Jaffe Cohen, Michael Zam and Ryan Murphy (“Feud: Bette and Joan”)

Writing for a Variety Series
“Saturday Night Live"
This is honestly one of my personal favorite categories since these guys all of the job I want. I could see any one of them winning, but I don't think the beast that is SNL is going to slow down.

Writing for a Variety Special
“Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t?”)

Writing for a Nonfiction Program
Ava DuVernay & Spencer Averick (“13th”)

Animated Program
“Bob’s Burgers” (FOX)

Short Form Animated Program
“Adventure Time” (Cartoon Network)

Tune into the Emmys TONIGHT on CBS starting at 8PM EST. We can't wait to see what Colbert has in store.

On today's episode of the podcast, I have filmmaker and actress, Sahna Foley!

We had a lot of mutual friends through the local film industry as well, and ended up connecting through social media.

Sahna's film "Hellskate" that is currently in the works

On the episode I talked with Sahna about how she got started in film, her passions in activism, working on political and social activist issues, getting into acting, her film "Hellskate", and so much more!

Episode 107 - LoveLoud Fest w/ Neon Trees

LISTEN TO THE EPISODE ON ITUNES HERE

Today's episode is a bonus episode recorded at the LoveLoud Fest, with special guests, Neon Trees!

I sat down with the band at the LoveLoud Festival in Orem, Utah to talk about their new single "Feel Good", as well as their upcoming music, being a part of the LoveLoud Fest, and so much more.

Neon Trees

The LoveLoud Festival was created by Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons and Barb Young, wife of Hall of Fame Quarterback, Steve Young. Their goal with LoveLoud was to bring attention to the rising suicide rates of LGBTQ Youth and show them that as a community we accept them and our arms are open to show them unconditional love and acceptance. This was such a great concept and I am glad that the festival was such a success.
