On the Mic 200th Episode LIVE from WonderCon!

It’s finally here! Our 200th episode! As I’ve started recording new episodes to begin releasing in April, our 200th episode was quickly upon us. I am so happy so say we will be doing it as a LIVE show at this years WonderCon!

I will be joined by writer/director Alex Watson as I look back on the past 10 years and 200 episodes, with a little bit of a twist to it. This year’s show will be at 8:00PM in Room 211.

Tim's 96th Oscar Picks

It's that time of year again! The red carpet is rolled out and the Oscars are here! Which can only mean one thing, it's time for my annual Oscar Picks!

Jimmy Kimmel is back for as our host and I'm incredibly excited to see what he has in store for us. 

This year's nominees are one of a kind and I had pleasure as always speaking with a number of them. Oppenheimer has been quite the powerhouse this award season, and I expect that to continue tonight. Some of these races are so tight that I may as well have just flipped a coin to decide them. I'm also really looking forward to seeing Ryan Gosling perform "I'm Just Ken" on the Oscar stage. The past two years I've only predicted 1 wrong. Can my streak continue?  

Without further ado, here's my picks for the 96th Oscars.

This is a toss-up. It could go either way between Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone. While I know a lot of people are leaning towards Lily Gladstone after the SAG win, which is statistically smart, I'm picking Emma Stone for the upset. While they both won the Golden Globe in their respective categories, Emma Stone has led the way with the awards this season, including the BAFTA which Lily Gladstone wasn't even nominated for. I think the international vote pushes Emma Stone to win.

The Stangers: Chapter 1 trailer is here!

Back in 2008 the horror of The Strangers was unleashed on us! Follow by a few more awesome sequels, Lionsgate Pictures is bringing us a whole new trilogy of Strangers films. The first trailer for "The Strangers: Chapter 1" is here! 

Starring Madelaine Petsch from Riversdale, alongside Froy Gutierrez, this new reimagining of "The Strangers" franchise looks terrifying in the best way possible! This new film is expected to be the first of three in this new trilogy of terror. I am incredibly excited for what this new trilogy has instore for us.

I Saw the TV Glow Official Trailer is here!

The first of this year's hot Sundance Film Festival films is coming! Despite now being a part of this year's Sundance Film Festival for the first time in over a decade, I couldn't miss all of the buzz surrounding "I Saw the TV Glow". I'm sure as it hit's SXSW in a few weeks here, we're going to here even more!

From director Jane Schoenbrun, starring Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine, this horror thriller looks like so much fun! While the poster gives some major Poltergeist vibes, I really don't know what to expect from this film, but it looks awesome. I'm even more excited to see that A24 has picked up the film.

Horizon: An American Saga trailer is here!

"Horizon: An American Saga" has been on my radar for a while since one of our previous regular guests, Austin Grant is in the film! Watch closely and you'll see him in several clips of the trailer. 

I didn't know much about the film other than it was going to be a two-part Western film from Kevin Costner. After finally seeing this trailer for Part 1, I cannot wait to see what we have instore for us! 

Part 1 of Horizon hits theaters June 28, 2024, with Part 2 following August 16, 2024.

As the Oscar nominations have been announced, ShortsTV is once again giving you the opportunity to see all of the nominated short films in theaters. 

Once again, we will be working with ShortsTV to bring you interviews with the Oscar nominated filmmakers from each shorts category.

In my opinion, short films tend to be one of the most overlooked categories by a viewing audience, even though these films often pack the same punch the features do. One of my favorite things about covering the Oscar Shorts every year is watching so many new/young filmmakers find their way to becoming major filmmakers we grow to love, and sometimes, even seeing tenured successful filmmakers return to the shorts to tell a story.
