WonderCon 2016 Recap

WonderCon 2016 has come to an end, and we had such an incredible time! This year's convention was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This was our first year attending WonderCon and it did not disappoint. As we pulled into Burbank, the Warner Brothers tower welcomed us with it's weekend Batman v. Superman wrap.

Despite the rough start picking up our badges, WonderCon treated us incredibly well from the start. The convention center staff was incredibly helpful in making sure we knew where we were going and showing us the fastest way to get to each panel room.

Batman v. Superman was a running theme at WonderCon, from our badges to the program

Arriving at WonderCon and getting ready to hit the exhibit hall and panels

Before hitting the exhibit hall, we rushed upstairs to catch the Bob's Burgers panel, featuring show creator Loren Bouchard as the moderator and cast members Kristen Schaal, John Roberts, Larry Murphey, and Dan Mintz!

Bob's Burgers Cast

The Bob's Burgers panel was everything that we hoped it would be. From hilarious script readings to footage from upcoming episodes for this season and next season, the panel did not disappoint. Loren Bouchard continued to tease the hopes for a Bob's Burgers album as well. We will keep our fingers crossed for that!

After the Bob's Burgers panel, we went down to the exhibit floor where I ran into The Bat Commander from The Aquabats!

It's always great to run into the guys from The Aquabats. We've had them as guests at Salt Lake Comic Con and they've also stopped by Radio From Hell a number of times while I was doing some work with them.

One of our next stops was over at Nintendo's booth where they were showcasing several new games, including the new Star Fox game that will be releasing soon.

Vanella and I at the Nintendo booth

We traveled 600 miles so my wife could continue to play video games. She was more than happy to test out the new Star Fox game.

While wandering the exhibit floor we also encountered Stephen Amell and Megan Fox signing autographs for fans of the upcoming Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows film.

Lego continued the Batman v. Superman theme on the exhibit floor with these two awesome lego sculptures of the Bat Sign and Superman suspended over the exhibit hall floor.

Funko made their presence known all throughout the floor with giant Pop! figures across the floor.

We decided to take the next day off and spend some time around Hollywood where we had to stop at the Chinese Theatre for another screening of Batman v. Superman! The crowds were excited to finally see this film. Opening weekend at the Chinese Theatre was the perfect way to see the film.

The next day we got up early to head back to WonderCon for the Nerdist panel! The panel was morderated by the one and only, Chris Hardwick! Joining Chris on the panel was Jessica Chobot (Nerdist News, Bizzare States), Dan Casey (Senior Editor of Nerdist), Malik Forte (Nerdist Gaming),  Kyle Hill (Nerdist Science Editor), Alicia Lutes (Nerdist Managing Editor) and other members of the amazing Nerdist family who's names escape me. I had a chance to talk with Chris for a moment following the panel. It's always great to see Chris at events.

After the Nerdist panel, we stuck around for the panel for the hit CW show, The 100. Fans were excited to see the cast and had a lot of questions for the writers after a controversial death this season. I kind of felt bad for the writers for as harsh as the fans came at them, but they handled it well.

Los Angeles and WonderCon treated us great as always! For this being our first WonderCon experience, we couldn't have asked for a better time. We can't wait to return next year as WonderCon returns to Anaheim.

Thanks for having us!

Salt Lake Comic Con FanX Press Conference

Salt Lake Comic Con FanX kicked off the convention today at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City!

The press conference is always something we look forward to at Salt Lake Comic Con. We love hearing all of the upcoming events as well as getting up close and personal with the guests in attendance.

The first guest introduced is one of my personal heroes, Astronuat Buzz Aldrin!

Dan Farr and Bryan Brandenburg welcomed Buzz with some fan art made compeletly of Legos

Some of the next guest introduced to the Press included Peter Davidson (Doctor Who), Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who) and Mitch Pileggi (X-Files, Supernatural). As many of you know, I'm huge fan of Doctor Who, so being able to meet two Doctors during the press conference was quite a treat!

Following the guest introductions, the guests tooks their spots at the interview tables where we got to sit down and listen to Buzz Aldrin. This was such an incredible experience to be able to listen to the stories of somebody that I have admired since I was a kid.

This was such a great press conference and it was great to meet so many great actors and people we have idolized for years. It's always great to be a part of Salt Lake Comic Con.

Following the Press Conference we went to check out some of the cosplay and stop by the booth for 'You Again'. As some of you know, I have been doing a little work on this show so I had to stop by and see Andrea and show them my support as well.

There was some excellent cosplay as always at FanX this year. Here's a look at a few of the great cosplayers we encountered.

Unfortunatly, our time at FanX was cut short since we had to get on the road to Los Angeles for WonderCon. Before leaving, Vanella and I had to check in to see how Han was holding up.

We will have more coverage of FanX coming up, courtesy of Christopher James!

Thanks for having us, FanX! We will see in you September for Salt Lake Comic Con!

Andrew and I talked about starting his comedy career in Seattle, moving to Boston to do stand up, making the move to Los Angeles, his comedy idols, working on Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, performing on Conan and so much more.

Episode 61 - The Oscar Picks Episode

LISTEN TO THE EPISODE ON ITUNES HERE

[NSFW WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT]

It's that time of year again. The Academy Awards are finally here! As many of you know, this is one of my favorite times of year as Austin Grant and I sit down and make our predictions for the Oscars. I've had the opportunity to be part of the Oscar Press for the last few years and it's always such a great time to see the nominations and the show come together.

Jimmy Martin from the Geek Show Podcast and Big Movie Mouth-Off usually joins us for this episode, but unfortunately something came up last minute and he was not able to join us this year. Jimmy is doing his annual Big Movie Mouth-Off Oscar Viewing Party at Brewvies in Salt Lake City. Make sure to check that out if you're in Salt Lake.

Austin and I are heading down to Los Angeles in just a few short hours for all of the Oscar fun. This is my second year bringing Austin down with me, and we've also invited Jesse Knight and Christopher James. We will be recording several new episodes while we are on our way to Los Angeles and while we are in town.

CORRECT PICKS

We know some people will think that we are crazy for not picking Stallone for the Supporting Actor, but when it came down to it, we don't even think he should have been nominated for playing the same role for the 7th time. This time he was sick Rocky! That nomination should have gone to Jacob Trembly for "Room". When it came down to it, 22 of the nominations are for films that Tom Hardy is a star in. Even though most critics say Stallone is a lock, we couldn't bring ourselves to pick him when neither of us felt he should win it.

Thanks for listening to our episode and following along with out picks. I will be live tweeting the Oscars on Sunday and we will Periscope from the Oscar Red Carpet Sunday afternoon.

Tune in Sunday, February 28th on ABC at 7ET/4PT to see Chris Rock host the Oscars. Enjoy!
